After using this cutting board for a while, I realized how puny looking my old cutting board was. This thing is huge. I can dice 4 large onions and still have room for cutting other vegetables.It is extremely dense and sturdy feeling, despite being 1/2" thin. The description says it's 2.5 lbs. -- it's not. It has got to be about 5 lbs or so.The only downside is that while it is dishwashable, it doesn't fit!! It's too large to fit in my dishwasher. I would have to remove the top drawer, and then put it in sideways to fit.

I brought a black Epicurean cutting board and loved it so much that I went back and brought 2 more. Then one day, while cutting meat,I noticed black particles on my knife. When I checked my meat, it had black particles too. It turns out that it came from the cutting board! After consistent repeat incidents of this, I had to throw all 3 boards away because I wasn't sure what was getting into my food when I cut. Very expensive lesson - since these aren't exactly cheap.

I bought this cutting board for carving large roasts (prime ribs), turkeys, and hams. I did not get a chance to use it until Thanksgiving but it did not disappoint. Put the roast or other dish right on it straight out of the oven to rest, and catch every bit of that juice.There is only one drawback -- be sure to use it on a level surface or you may experience an overflow of juices on the low side of the board.These boards are knife friendly, and help keep a good edge on your knife. This board is certainly heavy enough not to slide around on you while you apply leverage. In short, this is a perfect board (assuming you have a place to store it) for almost anyone who cooks large meats, fish, or poultry for large gatherings.My only complaint and the reason I deduct one star, is that there is no simple way to drain the juice groove into a saucepan for making a wonderful gravy. While it can be done, it is awkward that there is not some type of "plug" to facilitate preserving the juices, especially given the weight of this monster.
